Days of the Dead Partner Photo Critique
Photo by Gordon Qi Mimicked from Ansel Adams
The fifth photo in this set is the strongest. There is an apparent contrast between the top of the photo (black and white) and the bottom (color). Gordon uses the reflection in the lake to add more the photo, and uses that line as a separation. The mountains guide the viewer’s eye, and the wide angle keeps the viewer intrigued.
This piece was mimicked from the photographer Ansel Adams. Adams preferred landscape, and shots of nature. Gordon was able to capture the same style as Adams. He took nature shots of what seem as simple beauties.
There is a happy feel coming from this photo. The use of color gives off a positive vibe and makes the viewer inquire of nature. It is a beautiful landscape that is pleasant to look at. It is extremely calming and peaceful.
A strong qualities the photo contains is the contrast between the mountains and the reflections of mountains separated by a line. Also, because of the wide angle there is a focus in both the foreground and background. Personally I think the quality and clarity of the photo could improve.
