BLOG #4: Guest Photographer Speaker Tony Avelar

Look at his portfolio and find his portrait photography page. What portrait do you like best? Name at least 2 reasons why you like the portraits.

I noticed that most of the portraits are environmental and Avelar uses the background to really explain something o the subject. I also enjoy his use of proportion in the images to show importance and scale.

Look at his editorial photography page. Find one photo that you find interesting and guess on the story/narrative told through the photo.

I really love the impact this image has. It is one man against the terrors of nature. I'm guessing this is in reference to the California fires that occurred easier this year.

Find another category of his portfolio (Border Towns) that you find intriguing. What photo in this portfolio do you like best and why?

I enjoy the worms eye view and how the background shows how vacant the town is. There are light sterile colors used and even the dress of the subject shows how empty it is.
