Blog #7: Typology & Response to video
1. In your own words, describe what Typology in photography is? See article on this website (Link here) for more information and on the history of Typography.
Typology is the study of types. It's were similar things are related and put into perspective.
2. Why did James Mollison, the speaker/photographer, in the lecture, choose to document children in their bedrooms? Why was he interested in this theme and subject?
He wanted to do something for a children's charity but didn't want to do what has been done before.
3. In the Ted Video on Typology, what was your favorite collection? Why?
I loved looking at the people from the concerts. He was able to collect a group of individuals who have a common interest and put them together to
4. Look at the collection of Typology on this Pinterest Link. Find 1 that is the most appealing to you visually and conceptually. What do you find interesting about the series (color, shapes, subject, angles, etc.)? What makes the series successful?
I really enjoy looking at this photo. The individual plants show character and together they show individuality. I also like the difference in bakcground color between each image.
5. On campus, think of 3 objects you could photograph for your Typology warm up later this week.
Backpacks, students, classrooms, and hands are all things that can be photographed on campus.
6. Think of 3 objects/subjects that you could photograph outside of school for your final Typology project. Refrigerators, shoes, doors and cars can be taken outside of school.
